We’re pleased to share an academic opportunity that may be of interest to our members and the surrounding community.

The Summer Academy for Math and Science (SAMS) is a pre-college residential program offered by Carnegie Mellon University. The program is designed for high school students who are interested in exploring advanced coursework and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Participants in SAMS engage in rigorous academic instruction, hands-on projects, and collaborative learning experiences led by university faculty and staff. The program also provides exposure to college-level expectations, problem-solving approaches, and academic pathways related to STEM fields.

This opportunity may be especially relevant for students who are seeking:

  • A structured academic summer experience

  • Exposure to STEM-focused college programs

  • Preparation for future academic and career goals

We encourage families, students, educators, and community partners to review the program details directly from Carnegie Mellon University to determine eligibility, application requirements, timelines, and program expectations.
