Atlanta CARES is an affiliate of the National CARES Mentoring Movement founded by Susan Taylor, editor in chief emeritus of Essence Magazine. They recruit mentors for the most vulnerable youth in Metro Atlanta. Atlanta CARES mentors work with the youth to enhance their character development, decision making skills, and academic achievement.

In addition to mentoring children, they also strive to expose mentees to various career options. Approximately 350 middle school and high school students are expected to attend the 2020 STEMfest to explore careers in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field and engage in STEM related activities.

STEMfest is a free event.
